Take My Hand and Listen

"(Natural history writing) is written from a point of view that takes in a larger world than the world of just the writer. It brings us back to the traditional position of the storyteller in a community, which is not to be the wise person, the person who speaks from his own wisdom, but to create an atmosphere in which the wisdom inherent in the world becomes apparent." Barry Lopez

Take my hand and walk with me as we come home to the land and find a sense of belonging to place. We will track stories, look for sign, follow a trail wherever it might lead. We will get lost, loosing our selves and being silent. We will listen as deeply as a deer whose twitching ears are never still, waiting to hear the approach of something unexpected. Together, we will create a web of connections that just might catch some of the wisdom Lopez talks about.
